A powerful new Android malware dubbed PromptSpy has been discovered by cybersecurity researchers at ESET, exploiting the capabilities of Google's Gemini AI to adapt and evade detection.

PromptSpy uses artificial intelligence to adapt to virtually any Android device, hijacking control remotely with uncanny precision. Unlike traditional Android malware, this AI-powered Trojan leverages Gemini, Google's machine learning model, to make decisions and automate actions that would be difficult with scripts alone.

First identified in a single Argentine app called MorganArg, PromptSpy has demonstrated its ability to persist on an infected device, evading removal attempts. Once installed, it can intercept the PIN or password of the lock screen, monitor whether the screen is on, and even record the screen or take screenshots.
