apple’s back bench is about to empty. Sources inside the company’s hardware pipeline tell me Cupertino will ship six refreshed devices before the year is out, ending the silent treatment it gave the Mac Studio, Mac mini, iPad, apple TV and both HomePods while the iPhone soaked up the spotlight.
The leak comes courtesy of Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter — the same tip sheet that nailed the Vision Pro specs 18 months early — and lands on GitHub alongside a separate dump of internal part numbers that match the SKUs apple just registered in the Eurasian Economic Commission database. Translation: this isn’t fan fiction.
The silicon sweep: m5 max and m5 ultra land on the desktop
Mac Studio is first in line. Engineers have locked the machine to two flavours: M5 Max for the base config and a halo M5 Ultra that doubles the Max’s transistor budget to an estimated 40-billion-plus. The Ultra die is so wide apple had to redesign the thermal stack; the new vapor chamber weighs 200 g more than the M4 Studio heat sink yet keeps fan noise under 24 dB when the chip is hammering 3D renders or local LLM training. Expect 192 GB unified memory on the top bin — enough to load a 70-billion-parameter model entirely on-die.
Mac mini gets the scraps, but they’re tasty scraps: standard M5 for the $599 model and an M5 Pro tier that borrows the 14-core GPU from last year’s M3 Pro. The enclosure shrinks again, down to a 5 × 5 × 1.3-inch aluminium puck that finally kills the internal power brick. Two fans, one heat pipe, zero excuses.

Apple TV 4K is getting the N1 wireless co-processor, a custom UWB/Wi-Fi 7 hybrid that can push 8K HDR at 120 Hz without stutter. The chip also doubles as a Thread border router, turning the streamer into the hub Apple always promised the HomePod would be. Which matters, because HomePod 3 ships with five tweeters instead of four and a bass radiator that drops to 18 Hz. HomePod mini 2 keeps the spherical grin but gains radar-style presence detection; walk past it and the mesh network pings every lightswitch in the room.
Release cadence? Apple will dribble the hardware across spring, summer and autumn keynotes rather than cram everything into a single event. The company learned its lesson after the 2022 iPad/Mac pile-up that tanked online store uptime for two hours.
The subtext is control: every screen, speaker and slab becomes a node in Apple’s private cloud, feeding data into a larger AI inference mesh the company can monetise without selling your photo album to advertisers. Google and Amazon raced to wire the home first; Apple just waited until the silicon was cheap enough to own the stack top to bottom.
Bottom line: 2026 is the year Apple finishes the ecosystem lock-in it started with the M1 transition. The only thing left leaking is the price list — and even that won’t stay secret for long.
