Google overhauls gemini with vibrant new look and user-friendly tweaks
Google is giving its Gemini messaging app a major facelift, boasting a more vibrant design, improved organization, and user experience enhancements. While the update hasn't rolled out officially yet, it's already been spotted in internal testing versions.
Color scheme gets a bold makeover
The most noticeable change is the redesigned color palette. Gemini's current flat tone scheme will give way to a more saturated look with deeper blues and subtle gradients. Even the dark mode will see a makeover, trading in its stark black background for a softer, more distinguished aesthetic.
Icon Overhaul Aims for Clarity
Google is also testing a complete revamp of the app's icons, aiming for a more minimalist and clean design to improve visual clarity and reduce screen clutter. These fresh, streamlined icons will likely roll out alongside the UI update.

Lateral menu gets a wider reach
The app's lateral menu is another area seeing significant changes. Instead of occupying a small portion of the screen, the new menu will span the full width when opened, providing more real estate for its options. These will also be reorganized for a clearer structure, with icons spaced out for easier navigation.
Main Chat Screen Gets New Buttons and Layout Adjustments
On the main chat screen, Google is introducing new buttons for actions like starting a new conversation or sharing content. The account selector may also be relocated to the bottom of the lateral menu, streamlining the interface.
Gemini Live Gets its Own Enhancements
Even the Gemini Live feature won't escape the redesign. It'll feature new backgrounds tailored to the light and dark modes, along with an animated main button inspired by voice assistants from rival companies.
While these changes aren't officially confirmed for the final release, they suggest Google is prioritizing a more visually appealing, modern, and user-friendly Gemini app. However, as with any internal testing, not all the detected tweaks may make it into the final version.
