Huang hands the stage to a walking, wisecracking olaf at gtc
Jensen Huang threw the keynote script out the window the moment a three-foot snowman waddled onstage, waved and cracked a joke about GPU thermals. The audience at Nvidia’s GTC gasped, then roared: Olaf—yes, the Disney snowman—was live, self-balancing and trading banter with the CEO in real time.
The snowman that rewrote the robotics playbook
Behind the gag hides a stack of silicon and physics that most factories would kill for. Disney Research transplanted Olaf’s mesh into Nvidia’s Newton solver, ran the gait through an Isaac-sim rig on Omniverse, then bolted the resulting control net to a 12-motor ankle-to-head carbon frame. The result: a 13-kilogram puppet that can recover from a shove, improvise a line and hit its mark to the millimetre. No puppeteer, no hidden wires, just a Jetson Orin Nano in the torso pinging a cloud GPU for inference every 16 milliseconds.
Huang used the sketch to tee up a larger sermon: every company needs an “OpenClaw” plan—his shorthand for fleets of autonomous agents that roam software and physical space alike. He demoed the same Newton engine steering Olaf’s legs steering a warehouse pick-and-pack arm in Prague, then a datacentre cooling loop in Finland. Same code, different bodies. “The operating system of movement is here,” he said, stabbing the air. “If you miss this bus, you’re the next Kodak.”

From keynote to theme park in 30 days
The stunt was not a one-off. On 29 March the new World of Frozen at Disneyland Paris will open with a platoon of Olafs greeting guests, each running the identical inference model. Disney won’t say how many, but the rumour inside the park is “north of 60 units,” enough to keep a small render farm humming overnight while the snowmen recharge on inductive pads hidden under fake snow.
Netflix, meanwhile, was shopping its own chequebook across town. Sources at the streamer say the board has approved a $600 million bid for AI.Mind, the stealth startup co-founded by Ben Affleck, to auto-generate storyboards and rough cuts from script pages. The move, if closed, would give Netflix an in-house assembly line for green-lighting films without ever calling a second unit. Hollywood’s unions are already drafting counter-language; the guilds smell job erosion dressed as efficiency.

Openclaw eats the stack
The engine driving both plays began life as Moltbot, a weekend side project by Viennese dev Peter Steinberger. After OpenAI poached Steinberger last winter, the repo forked under an Apache licence and rebranded to OpenClaw. Contributions tripled overnight. Huang’s lieutenants now pitch it as “the DOS of embodied AI,” a tagline calculated to make CFOs picture licence fees instead of capex cliffs. Early adopters include Siemens Healthineers, which is wiring OpenClaw into MRI arms, and a Japanese carrot-picker that claims 4% less bruising after switching controllers.
Back onstage, Huang closed with a warning disguised as optimism: “The next million robots won’t come from Detroit. They’ll come from anyone who can write Python and plug a joystick.” The lights dimmed, Olaf bowed, and for a second the snowman’s LED smile looked less like a Disney prop and more like the Cheshire grin of an industry about to swallow its own tail.
