Samsung considers radical redesign of galaxy phones

Samsung may be poised to shake up its iconic smartphone design, abandoning the triple-camera vertical setup that's defined Galaxy phones for years.

Triple-camera layout under review

A new report suggests the tech giant is considering a major overhaul, possibly moving the rear camera island to a new position or modifying the layout entirely.

If Samsung proceeds with this plan, the redesigned phones could first appear in the Galaxy S27 series early next year, followed by the A-series mid-rangers.

The move would mark a significant departure for Samsung, which has unified Galaxy designs across its flagship and budget lines. The current triple-camera setup was introduced to bring visual cohesion across the range.

Speculation is rife about what the new design might look like. Some predict a horizontal camera array akin to Google Pixels or a circular setup reminiscent of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra.

A large, iPhone 17 Pro-style camera island is also in the mix, although this might be less likely given Samsung's canceled Galaxy S26 Edge's similar design.

Whatever the outcome, it's clear Samsung is looking to freshen up its smartphone aesthetic and keep pace with competitors in an increasingly crowded market.
