Rumors are swirling that a redesigned TriFold 2 is in development, spearheaded by a new hinge system intended to dramatically reduce the device’s notoriously bulky profile. South Korean leaker, Lanzuk, suggests this innovation could extend beyond the TriFold, impacting Samsung’s broader portfolio of foldable phones. Currently, the original TriFold measures a hefty 12.9mm thick when closed – a stark contrast to the sleek 8.9mm of the upcoming Z Fold 7 and the remarkably slim 7.9mm of the S26 Ultra.
The initial production run of just 100,000 to 200,000 units – a figure that quickly depleted stock – highlights a significant consumer demand, despite the device's exorbitant $2,900 price tag. But mere interest isn’t enough; Samsung needs to address persistent concerns about durability and utility.

Fragility and functionality: the elephant in the room
