Xiaomi 18 battery rumors: a 3% boost over xiaomi 17

Xiaomi is reportedly planning a modest battery upgrade for its upcoming flagship, the Xiaomi 18. Leaked details suggest the device will feature a 7,200mAh power pack, a mere 200mAh increase over its predecessor, the Xiaomi 17.

While some might view the incremental upgrade as underwhelming, the addition still translates to a 3% capacity boost. In the grand scheme of battery sizes, this small jump isn't likely to make a drastic difference in real-world usage.

However, paired with an efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor, the extra power could still deliver a noticeable extension of battery life. Xiaomi is known for its fast-charging capabilities, so the inclusion of 100W wired and 50W wireless charging would help offset the relatively small battery gain.

Other anticipated features of the Xiaomi 18 include a 6.4-inch 2K display, SuperPixel camera Technology, and a compact design that houses two 200MP cameras with a 3x periscope telephoto lens. The standard model is expected to forgo the rear display found on Pro variants, focusing instead on a more streamlined design.

The Xiaomi 18 Pro, on the other hand, is rumored to pack an even larger 8,500mAh battery, a significant upgrade over most flagship phones. While charging speeds may remain the same, the increased capacity should provide a notable boost in battery life.

Xiaomi is planning to unveil the Xiaomi 18 series in September, with competition expected from Apple's iPhone 18 Pro lineup.
